As you’ve made your way through the circle, you already know by now that August’s theme is Water. \u00a0We did this theme two years ago in April and I did some pictures of water droplets splashing into a bowl of water. \u00a0This time around I decided to try for some underwater pictures. \u00a0I wanted to stretch myself as it’s not something I photograph very often. \u00a0It was also made more difficult though as we took our pool down this year. \u00a0I had hoped to get some images in an outdoor pool, but time got away from me (we’ve had family in town and my daughter is in a musical) and so we had to head to the community college’s indoor pool last minute. \u00a0I would have preferred some outdoor sunny glistening pool pictures, but this will have to do.<\/p>\n

For my final image, I’m going to post an underwater picture I took last summer at an outside pool. \u00a0\"P1090314_SS_web\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It gives a little comparison of the lighting differences between an indoor pool and outdoor. \u00a0There is so much that goes into an image. \u00a0The first five pictures were shot with a GoPro and were much higher resolution images than my final image which was shot with a point and shoot underwater camera. \u00a0I’m new to underwater photography, so maybe there was more I could do with the editing of the first pictures, but I have to say that lighting plays a big role in an image. \u00a0Not that the first images weren’t good, they definitely captured the “mood” of the lighting at the indoor pool, and I like the mood of the pool lighting. \u00a0Then you look at my final image and it’s a totally different vibe. \u00a0It’s light and airy. \u00a0A lot of photographers find a style or look they like to always shoot in. \u00a0While I had hoped to do bright outdoor pool pictures, it was definitely fun (and challenging) trying some indoor more moody images. \u00a0I think that’s what I love about photography. \u00a0While I would love to create my own signature style in my images, I tend to always go back to just shooting the images as the scene was with whatever mood and lighting was there. \u00a0I’ve even beaten myself up about not having a signature style, but I’m kind of coming to the conclusion though that documenting the scene as it was IS my style.<\/p>\n
